Those who didn’t attend the annual Festa Calypso event Saturday night really missed an evening of fist rate Maltese entertainment. People came from all over Ontario, Michigan and New York states. A couple who drove up from New York city said that every time they come to Toronto to attend this great function they’re always very glad they did, but last night turned out to be even more entertaining than they could have anticipated. The main guest of honour, Joe Demicoli, proved himself to be a marvelously amusing stand-up comedian and singer. It was an evening filled with hearty laughter and plenty of food which was, as it always is at The Malta Band Club, excellent.
Indeed it was a flawless evening all the way around. Great entertainment, good food and a sell-out crowd combined to help make this year's Festa Calypso a resounding success -- with some guests saying it may have been the best so far.
One must also recognize the outstanding efforts of the Gozo Club committee, especially the president Paul Portelli, who worked very hard to bring us such an event.
Congratulations! A job well done.
